'Gu porcelain' is an excellent quality porcelain which is known for its strength after firing, but it suffers from a high rate of breakage during the firing process that makes the final product a bit more expensive than standard ceramic or porcelain teawares.   After firing, Gu porcelain has an attractive luster and a lovely 'soft' feel to it.  Its visual appeal along with its resistance to breakage makes this an excellent gaiwan for everyday use.
