Mao Cha literally translates as "semi-finished"
tea. In the case of Pu-Erh, it is a term used mainly in the secondary tea markets to describe tea leaves after they have
been processed and dried, when they become the raw materials used by tea factories to blend their various Pu-Erh tea recipes before they are compressed. Very simply put, Pu-Erh Mao Cha is sun-dried green tea made from the many large leaf tea varietals unique to Yunnan province.
Note: Mao Cha is Very Young Pu-Erh tea, and, because of its bold, green & assertive flavor profile (like any other young Sheng/Raw Pu-Erh tea), it can occasionally cause stomach upset for people with sensitive stomachs or for people who consume large quantities in a short amount of time.
