Feng Qing county is the home of Dian Hong, known as Yunnan Black tea in the west.  In fact, the original tea factory in Feng Qing has been producing some of the most sought after Dian Hong for export since 1939.

Our Feng Qing Gold Tips is made up entirely of tiny, delicate, fuzzy golden buds from the earliest Spring harvest of 2011.  Simply stated, this is an impeccably produced, classic, all bud Dian Hong Cha.  When steeped, the tea liquor reveals itself as a sweet, malty and vigorous cup of black tea.  The finish is smooth and long lasting, and it makes for a very satisfying morning cup.  It takes milk and sugar well, but I strongly suggest at least trying this tea without milk or sugar to better enjoy the full effect of the lovely, lingering malty-sweet aftertaste.

About Dian Hong Teas:

Dian Hong translates literally as 'Yunnan Red.'  Dian is another name for Yunnan Province, named for the Bronze Age Dian Kingdom that was later incorporated into the Han Empire.  In China, what we refer to as 'black' tea is called 'red' tea because the infused liquor is a reddish brown color.
